Jacob Cepis, a senior left wing, is the only Gophers player who has faced Nebraska-Omaha. And that was two seasons ago.

Before transferring to Minnesota, Cepis played for 1-1/2 seasons at Bowling Green which is a member of the CCHA as Nebraska-Omaha used to be.

Cepis, as a freshman, had three assists in two games versus the Mavericks on Feb. 15-16, 2008. He also played two games against UNO as a sophomore and took nine shots on Oct. 31-Nov. 1, 2008 but did not score.

There are several other player ties between the two teams:

* Gopher freshman center Erik Haula, who has four assists in two games, was a linemate of UNO's Matt White last season with the Omaha Lancers of the USHL. Seth Ambroz, a Gophers recruit and the third member of that line, is playing a third season for the Lancers.

* Freshman winger Tom Serratore of the Gophers played with UNO's Andrej Sustr, a 6-8 defenseman from the Czech Republic, at Youngstown (USHL) last season.

* Forward Nate Condon and defenseman Nate Schmidt, both Gophers freshmen, played on the Fargo Force last season with UNO freshman forward Johnnie Searfoss. The Force lost three games to two to Green Bay in the Clark Cup finals, which is the USHL's equivalent of the Stanley Cup playoffs.

* Freshman forward Jared Larson of the Gophers played with UNO freshman goaltender Mike Taffe played with the Fairbanks Ice Dogs last season in the NAHL.
