Part of an NBA news release caught our attention this afternoon. Sacramento Kings guard Tyreke Evans, the NBA's rookie of the year in 2009-10, will miss the first game of the upcoming season because of his offseason driving follies. Evans was arrested after he was observed driving down a California highway at 130 miles per hour this summer. He pleaded no contest to reckless driving. Video of his frightening journey is all over the web. You can watch it here.

Why do we care? Because the Kings open the season on Oct. 27 at Target Center (7 p.m.).

There are still plenty of reasons to turn out for this one: It's the home and season opener. The Wolves have revamped their roster, featuring lots of new talent and a lot of questions. And the Kings still boast a potent rookie for the second straight season, 6-11 F/C DeMarcus Cousins.
