The backup quarterback entered the game after Juice Williams was injured in the first quarter and led his team on three TD drives, completing 10 of 19 passes for 185 yards and a touchdowns. He was not sacked and did not throw an interception.

DEFENSIVE MVP

Clay Nurse, Illinois

The defensive end had four of Illinois' seven sacks of Gophers quarterback Adam Weber. He finished with seven tackles.
