The Gophers added a highly-ranked placekicker to their recruiting Class of 2019, with Camden Lewis of Hough High School in Cornelius, N.C., announcing via Twitter that he has committed to coach P.J. Fleck's program.

The 6-foot, 185-pound Lewis is the No. 5-ranked kicker nationally by Chris Sailer Kicking and No. 6 by Kohl's Kicking, services that focus on special teams players. Both services also give Lewis a five-star ranking. He is not yet rated in the 247Sports.com composite rankings of major recruiting services.

"Cam is a big-time kicking prospect. A great athlete with elite leg strength,'' Sailer wrote. "He hits an excellent ball off the ground. He is smooth and accurate with D1 college range. Kickoffs are outstanding and near the very top of his class, D1 ready He drives the ball well and gets big hang time. A competitor that does extremely well under pressure. He kicks with great confidence. Cam has all the tools to dominate the next level.''

Lewis also had a scholarship offer from East Carolina, and he drew interest from Virginia Tech, Duke, Georgia, Michigan State, North Carolina and South Carolina.

Lewis is the 17th player to commit to the Gophers for the Class of 2019, and Minnesota is ranked 20th nationally and fourth among Big Ten teams in the 247Sports composite. In its own rankings, 247Sports has the Gophers 15th nationally and second in the Big Ten, behind only Ohio State.
