Three players scored over 20 points as the Gophers women's basketball team routed Cal Poly 112-68 on Wednesday afternoon in a nonconference game at Williams Arena.

It was field trip day, and the announced crowd of 4,126, bolstered by students for the noon game, had plenty to cheer about.

Kenisha Bell led Minnesota (10-2) with 26 points while Carlie Wagner and Destiny Pitts, both hot on three-pointers, each had 23 points. Pitts was 7-for-13 from behind the arc, Wagner 5-for-11. Also in double figures was teammate Taiye Bello with 14 points and a game-high 10 rebounds. She also had five steals in her first start of the season.

The Gophers shot 45.5 percent and made a season-high 16 three-pointers. This was the third time Minnesota has scored at least 100 points this season, and it was the most points since the Gophers' 112-106 two-overtime win over Northwestern on Feb. 7, 2016.

Cal Poly (4-5) of San Luis Obispo shot just 31.6 percent and never led. Ayzhiana Basallo scored 16 points and Dynn Leaupepe 14 for the Mustangs.

Threes by Wagner and Pitts gave the Gophers a 6-0 lead that grew to 12-0. With 11 fast-break points, the Gophers built a 27-11 by the end of the first quarter.

Kenisha Bell of the Gophers tried to beat Dye Stahley of Cal Poly downcourt. Bell scored a game-high 26 points.

Bell had nine points and four of her eight assists in the second quarter as Minnesota's lead grew to 56-27 at halftime.

The Gophers scored a season-high 33 points in the third quarter, behind Pitts' 11 points. Minnesota, 6-0 at home, led by as many as 49 points.
