Quick update from the first full day of the winter meetings.

The Twins don't appear to be close to any significant moves, but they did spend the day speaking with agents and checking in with teams. CBO Derek Falvey said if there is any suitable pitcher available via trade or free agency, they have inquired about him. I'm going to get into this a little more in the dead tree edition, because it appears that the Twins have enough prospects in their system to trade for an arm or two instead of signing someone like Yu Darvish to a six-year, $130 million contract (my numbers).

In fact, if Tampa is serious about listening to offers for staff ace Chris Archer, the Twins look to be in position to package an offer. And yes, the Twins are interested in Archer if he is available (but who wouldn't).

The Twins hope to officially announce all their minor league coaching staffs in the coming days.

The Rule 5 draft is coming up on Thursday. Familiar names like Kohl Stewart, Nick Burdi and Jake Reed were not placed on the 40-man roster by the Twins, so they are available and can be selected.
