It's becoming clear that it is hard to put into proper perspective — at least in terms of U.S. sports — just how amazing it is that Leicester City clinched the English Premier League soccer title on Monday. But let's try:

Leicester had 5,000-to-1 odds of winning at the start of the season.

If you look at an online U.S. betting website, you can't find any NFL team with longer odds than 200-to-1 to win next year's Super Bowl (and it's the Browns).

If you wanted to wager on an MLB team to win the World Series, the wackiest you could get is the Braves at 500-to-1 (even the Twins are only 80-to-1, even if it seems like 5,000-to-1 is more appropriate at the moment).

Buster Douglas' knockout of Mike Tyson, one of the great underdog stories of our time, was a 42-to-1 shot.

Leicester City is in a league of its own.
