The Twins offered salary arbitration Monday to lefthanded reliever Dennys Reyes, General Manager Bill Smith said.
Reyes, 31, who went 3-0 with a 2.33 ERA in 75 appearances this year, is a Type B free agent. By offering arbitration, the Twins will receive a supplemental pick in next June's amateur draft if he signs with another team.
When a team loses a Type A free agent, as the Twins did last year with Torii Hunter, they receive a first-round pick along with a supplemental round pick.
The Twins' other free agents this year -- Nick Punto, Adam Everett and Eddie Guardado -- did not qualify as Type A or Type B players.
Reyes has until Sunday to accept or decline the team's arbitration offer, which would bind him to a one-year deal with the Twins, but he's expected to seek a multiyear deal on the open market.
• The Twins were saddened by the death of Jim Ridley, their Canadian scout since 2003. Ridley died of cancer Friday at age 64.
