The last time the Twins saw Corey Kluber, the game was nearly two hours old before they collected their first hit. So Paul Molitor is taking an optimistic approach to tonight's rematch with the Cy Young winner.

"I don't think he could be much better," Molitor said.

The Twins better hope not. Kluber has allowed two runs or fewer 12 times this season, including last week's domination of the Twins. Molitor would like to see his team try something, anything, a little bit different against Kluber. "Hopefully some of the guys who saw him last week can make some adjustments," Molitor said. "I don't know if you have to get up on the plate, shorten your swing, just try to do something different. If you take the same approach, you're likely to have the same result."

Kluber has a 3.46 ERA this season, so he's not unhittable. The Angels scored five runs against him less than two weeks ago. But it's a big challenge, Molitor knows, because "you know what he's going to do, but he's got that breaking ball that's very tough to recognize out of his hand."

The Twins already know that their starter won't last long against the Indians tonight, because Trevor May is making his first start since July 1, after 13 relief appearances. "Hopefully Trevor continues with some of the things he's done in the pen, and gives us three good innings," Molitor said. "Maybe a little bit more if we get lucky."

May will be limited to roughly 50 pitches, which is 20 more than he has thrown in a relief appearance, so the Twins aren't sure what they're getting tonight. J.R. Graham is the likely first reliever up when May hits his limit, and Molitor said he will manage the bullpen with tonight in mind, not the whole weekend — even though rookie Tyler Duffey starts tomorrow, and Tommy Milone returns from the disabled list to start on Sunday.

Brian Dozier is out of the lineup tonight, only his third night off of the season. Molitor said people don't understand how much of a breather that can be for an everyday player, how much more refreshed you feel when you return. Dozier is 3-for-28 against Kluber with nine strikeouts, so the timing isn't bad, either. Though none of the Twins hits Kluber particular well, of course — Trevor Plouffe's .290 average with two home runs is the best among Minnesota regulars.
