Some quick notes off Tuesday's practice:

The Gophers got good news on LT Ben Lauer's MRI exam. He won't need surgery and is expected to return to practice in two weeks, maybe one.

WR KJ Maye and S Damarius Travis both practiced Tuesday after missing Monday because of dehydration.

WR Isaiah Gentry (hamstring), TE Lincoln Plsek (back), DT Robert Ndondo-Lay (unspecified), DE Alex Keith (unspecified) all did not practice Tuesday. Ndondo-Lay and Keith's injuries are not believed to be serious.

Freshman Tyler Moore was the second-string center today, with Connor Mayes at right guard.

DE Gaelin Elmore had multiple sacks in the full-team drills. I also noted another sack from DE Hank Ekpe and some nice plays where DT Steven Richardson and DT Andrew Stelter forced their way into the backfield.

The Gophers were in full pads but have yet to tackle through five practices. Defensive coordinator Tracy Claeys said they'll only tackle two or three times in camp. It's just not worth getting somebody nicked up with a shoulder injury or something else that will linger all season, Claeys said. The drills are done at full speed, though, and the players still get into position to tackle without following through. The Gophers have been a good tackling team under Claeys, so it's interesting to see how they go about it.

Note: The Gophers are off Wednesday and return to practice Thursday, but there won't be media access. They have another practice open to the public Friday, followed by a scrimmage Saturday.
