Park Rapids native Aaron Pike won the 1,500 meters (T53/54 class), and Josh Cinnamo of Apple Valley set an American record while placing second in the shot put (F38, 40-46 class) as the U.S. Paralympics track and field national championships ended Sunday at Hamline.

Pike finished in 3 minutes, 4.42 seconds to earn his second title of the meet. Cinnamo threw 44 feet, 11¾ inches, breaking his own shot put record for the F46 class.

Northern Section tennis

Alexis Nelson of St. Paul won the women's singles, women's doubles and mixed doubles titles at the US Open Northern Section qualifier at the Baseline Tennis Center.

Nelson, 16, beat Jessie Aney 6-4, 6-2 in the singles finals, then teamed with Aney to win the doubles crown, 6-2, 6-4 over Hayley Haakenstad and Caitlyn Merzbacher.

The Gophers' Felix Corwin beat Tony Larson 6-3, 7-6 (5) for the men's singles title.
