Homework wasn't on their minds. Neither were jobs or graduation or Memorial Day plans. The focus for the Eden Prairie girls' lacrosse team was solely on beating five-time defending state champion Blake on Friday.

"We were all about lacrosse," said Lagerquist, a senior attacker and goal-scoring specialist.

Lagerquist set the tone, scoring the first goal of the game just 45 seconds in as Eden Prairie took a 7-1 halftime lead and held off Blake for a 12-10 victory. She finished with a team-high four goals, her second four-goal game of the week.

Eden Prairie and Blake have met in four of the past five state finals, and Blake won every time. That was foremost on the minds of the Eden Prairie players before the game.

"We want to show them that this is not the same team that they've beaten before," Lagerquist said. "We're deeper. We have seven attackers that can beat you, not just one. We feel like this is our year, like we have the team that can win state."

Wayzata synchronized swimming

The junior continued her run of aquatic success with three first-place finishes in leading Wayzata to its ninth consecutive state championship. Donlin, who medaled in four events in the swimming state meet, won the solo extended and figures extended and was on the winning team extended routine.

Blake tennis

The No. 2-ranked singles player in Class 1A, Ingbar took three straight-set victories to help Blake to the Class 1A, Section 4 team championship. A state doubles champ last year, the sophomore qualified for the state tournament in singles for the first time, losing to teammate and two-time Class 1A champion Charlie Adams in the finals.

Farmington lacrosse

The senior captain scored four goals and had an assist in the first 10 minutes of a 17-16 victory over Apple Valley, then moved to a much-needed spot on defense for the remainder of the game. She became the leading scorer in team history in that game.

Mounds View track and field

The senior won the shot put and the discus at the Suburban East conference meet, one week after taking first place in the discus and second in the shot put while leading Mounds View to the championship of the Class 3A True Team state meet.

Waconia baseball

The future Gopher pitched 11 consecutive scoreless innings over two games in the same day in the Class 3A, Section 2 playoffs. The senior pitched four innings in relief in a 5-3 victory over Buffalo and a complete game in a 1-0 victory over Chanhassen.

Irondale track and field

Warren has emerged in his senior season as one of the state's best triple jumpers. He beat defending champion Ky'eric Baynes to win the event at the Northwest Suburban conference meet with a jump of 46-1 ¼. He also ran a leg on the winning 4x400-meter relay team.
