Team USA Minnesota runner Heather Kampf (above) was the first woman to cross the finish line in the heart of the Hennepin Avenue theater district during Thursday night's TC 1 Mile road race in downtown Minneapolis. The 28-year-old Kampf, who went by Heather Dorniden during her days at the University of Minnesota, had a time of 4 minutes, 45.4 seconds. Garrett Heath of Seattle, a Winona High School graduate, won the professional men's division with a time of 4:08.3. The winning times, both well off course records, were worth $5,000 each. Runners had to put up with wet conditions but not the severe weather that canceled last year's event.
