The No. 12 Gophers hit the end of a 15-game winning streak Sunday, losing 5-3 in a Big Ten game at Nebraska.

The loss was the first for the Gophers (29-5 overall, 5-1 Big Ten) since March 1.

Sara Groenewegen (18-3) took the loss for the Gophers despite giving up only five hits to Nebraska (18-14, 6-2).

The winning streak was the longest in program history.

Swarm ends skid

The Minnesota Swarm broke a six-game losing streak with a 13-9 victory over the New England Black Wolves in Uncasville, Conn. It was the Swarm's first road victory since beating New England on Jan. 24.

Rookie forward Miles Thompson scored three goals. Jordan MacIntosh also notched a hat trick — his second of the season — and added two assists.

Wildcats trounce U

Northwestern racked up 20 hits in a 19-7 baseball victory over the host Gophers, giving the Wildcats two out of three in the weekend series.

Freshman Micah Coffey had two hits and three RBI for the Gophers (8-15, 1-5 Big Ten). But Minnesota committed three errors, and its bullpen allowed 12 hits and 11 earned runs to the Wildcats (7-19, 2-1).

Tennis teams win

• The Gophers women's tennis team beat Maryland 4-3 in College Park, Md., in the teams' first match as Big Ten members. The Terrapins' coach is former Gophers assistant Daria Panova. • The 31st-ranked Gophers men (14-5, 5-0 Big Ten) beat their eighth ranked team of the season, blanking No. 39 Indiana 4-0 at the Baseline Tennis Center.
