Gophers' Mike Reilly, UND goalie among Hobey Baker nominees

Minnesota Gopher defenseman Mike Reilly and University of North Dakota goaltender Zane McIntyre, from Thief River Falls, Minn., are among the 10 nominees for the Hobey Baker Memorial Award, college hockey's top individual honor.

Others announced Thursday for the honor are: Daniel Ciampini, Union; Jack Eichel, Boston University; Matt Garbowsky, RIT; Zach Hyman, Michigan; Tanner Kero, Michigan Tech; Joey LaLeggia, Denver; Jimmy Vesey, Harvard; and Cody Wydo, Robert Morris.

The 10 finalists were selected through voting by all 59 Division I head coaches and online fan balloting. Next, the 27-member selection committee and an additional round of fan balloting at www.hobeybakeraward.com from March 19-29 will determine the winner.

A field of three finalists will be announced April 2. The winner will be announced April 10 during the Frozen Four in Boston at Matthews Arena, a rink where Hobey Baker played.

The highest-scoring defenseman in the nation, Reilly has 6 goals and 36 assists this season. The junior from Chanhassen was chosen the Big Ten's Defensive Player of the Year. He's a fourth-round draft choice of the Columbus Blue Jackets.

McIntyre is North Dakota's all-time leader in career goals against average and save percentage. The junior was named First Team All-NCHC. He has played in all but one game this season. McIntyre is a sixth-round draft choice of the Boston Bruins.
