Here are a few notes from today's 2-1 win over Baltimore.

It was all about the pitching. Ervin Santana set the tone with two scoreless innings and rest of the staff followed suit on Sunday. I wrote about Ervin Santana for tomorrow's dead tree edition, so I'll mentioned two other pitchers here.

Jose Berrios pitched three scoreless innings, giving up an unearned run on three hits with two strikeouts. Pitched like he belonged. He has impressed so far in camp, with one person with the team telling me he would take Berrios' stuff over Alex Meyer's stuff. Twins manager Paul Molitor has noticed how Berrios doesn't seemed fazed by much.

When a throwing error in the fourth led to Baltimore's only run. Berrios kept the inning from falling apart.
``He had to deal with a misplay and was able to minimize that and not turn it into a crooked number," Molitor said. ``(He's) 20, is that right? A lot of poise for 20. I haven't been following his twitter account (laughter) but I think he's pretty confident too. Not in a bad way. If I could pitch like that at 20 I would be confident too."

Mark Hamburger struck out two over two innings as well. He's an interesting story, having served a drug suspension and the Twins are giving him a shot at age 28 to make the majors.

``He's taken the ball a couple times (he pitched against the Gophers) and has been effective both outings," Molitor said. ``I would not call him a trickster but he does change things up and changes his arm angle. HE looks like he's in attack mode, too. He's not afraid and those are good attributes to have."

The error in the fourth was on a throw by Miguel Sano on Jonathan Schoop's grounder that took a bad hop and bounced away from him. Sano picked up the ball and made an ill-advised throw to first that was wild, allowing a runner to advance to third and eventually score. Sano made a nice barehanded play on David Lough's bunt attempt in the third. Molitor was impressed by the play but pointed out that Sano was up on the grass at third but dropped back as the pitch was delivered when he should have held his ground. He would have had an easier play.

The Twins revealed on Sunday that they had a minor scare on Friday when Glen Perkins reported some pulling on his left side. After taking a couple days easy, Perkins going to throw on the side on Monday and could return to game action soon.
