The Gophers began their first wrestling dual ever with Maryland by winning the first six bouts on the way to a 34-12 victory Sunday in College Park, Md.

The Gophers recorded three pins, by top-ranked Dylan Ness at 157 pounds, No. 4 Logan Storley at 174 and No. 5 Scott Schiller at 197. Other Gophers to score bonus points were Nick Wanzek (technical fall) at 165 pounds, Brett Pfarr (major decision) at 184 and Ethan Lizak (major decision) at 125. The six victories with bonus points are the most for Minnesota in a dual since the team produced seven (five major decisions, two pins) against Indiana in February 2014.

The Gophers, ranked No. 2 in the nation, finished with a 7-2 record in the Big Ten and dropped the Terrapins to 0-8. It is the fourth consecutive season the Gophers have won at least seven matches in conference competition.

The Gophers will wrestle next weekend in the National Duals, starting with North Dakota State on Sunday in Fargo.
