In case there was any doubt about which team is the state's best, Minnetonka reasserted its position as the alpha wolf in boys' swimming and diving with a record-setting performance in the Class 2A True Team State Meet on Saturday at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center.

The Skippers took the lead in the first event, the 200 medley relay, and never relinquished it, racking up a meet-record 2,322.5 points. The previous record was 2,313 points, set by Eden Prairie in 2013.

Sophomore Sam Schilling was clearly the swimmer of the meet with four individual records to his credit. He won the 200 freestyle in 1:40.37 and the 500 freestyle in 4:33.95. He anchored two record-setting freestyle relay teams — the 200 (1:26.49) and the 400 (3:09.24). Senior Ryan Current, another member of the winning relays, had Minnetonka's fifth event victory in the 100 freestyle, winning in a time of 46.66, just .05 shy of another meet record.

Stillwater was second with 2,187.5 points and Eden Prairie third with 1,944 points. The Eagles also had five event victories. Griffin Back won the 200 individual medley and 100 breast stroke, Joshua Withers won the 100 butterfly and Jordan Greenberg the 50 freestyle. All three swam on their winning 200 medley relay team.
