We just did Mike Zimmer's weekly Monday press conference, and we managed to get a few injury questions in without him jumping off the podium and tossing our recorders out into the snow.

(I kid, of course. Zimmer has been patient while dealing with us media folks since Day One.)

Zimmer said that left guard Charlie Johnson has a sprained right ankle, and while he wouldn't disclose the injury for safety Robert Blanton, who was wearing a walking boot on his left foot today and also got an MRI done, Zimmer said, "From what I remember, I don't think it was real serious."

Both players were injured in yesterday's win over the Jets. Zimmer indicated that the team will see how things go the next couple of days then go from there with Johnson and Blanton. But with three weeks remaining, even a minor injury could potentially end a player's season prematurely.

The Vikings, meanwhile, will continue to see how things go with defensive tackle Sharrif Floyd, who was knocked out of yesterday's game early. He couldn't finish the Panthers game in Week 13 either.

And while Zimmer didn't offer any updates on rookie outside linebacker Anthony Barr, he said he doesn't think injured reserve is a possibility. So there is hope that he could return this season.

Speaking of injured reserve, Zimmer said Jerick McKinnon, who was put on IR over the weekend, has already had that procedure done on his lower back. McKinnon will be shelved for two months.

"It had been bothering him for a little while," he said. "He did come back and play a couple of games. We just decided that it was time. It needed to be fixed and we just couldn't prolong it any further."
