Indy Eleven defeated Minnesota United 2-0 on Saturday at IUPUI's Michael A. Carroll Stadium in an NASL match for its first home victory this season.

The loss for the Loons (9-2-3) in Indianapolis ended their unbeaten streak at five games. United had beaten Indy Eleven twice this season, including 5-1 on Aug. 16 in Blaine.

Victor Pineda scored in the eigth minute and Jhulliam in the 46th for Indy Eleven (4-7-4).

Indy Eleven was coming off a scoreless draw on the road against the New York Cosmos last week. The Loons, meanwhile, who have already secured their berth in the playoffs, were coming off a 1-0 win against the visiting Atlanta Silverbacks.

U wins in volleyball

The No. 23 Gophers volleyball team swept Rutgers 25-8, 25-17 and 25-21 on Saturday in a Big Ten match at the Sports Pavilion behind Daly Santana's 15 kills and eight digs, and a collective 14 aces.

Alyssa Goehner had a team-high 11 digs and setter Katie Schau had 29 assists and nine digs for the Gophers (13-4, 3-3).

As a team, the Gophers hit .218 to Rutgers' .000 — 18 kills, 18 errors. The Scarlet Knights had nobody with more than five kills.

The Gophers also had a 41-28 advantage in digs and outblocked the Scarlet Knights 5-4. Rutgers (7-12, 0-6) remained winless in its first Big Ten season.
