Along with a new venue for the Vikings to call home this season and next, fans can drool over a new food option at TCF Bank Stadium, one that hearkens to the rallying cry of the first quarterback to take the team to the Super Bowl.

The “40 for 60 Burger” is a tribute to Joe Kapp’s gameday philosophy — that 40 men must play as one for 60 minutes. Kapp led the Vikings to Super Bowl IV, a 23-7 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in January 1970.

Now, about that burger. It sports a patty of 40 percent bacon and 60 percent ground beef. It’s topped with cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato, crispy onions, a fried egg, a special sauce and even more bacon. That’s all squeezed onto a pretzel bun.

The “40 for 60” can be found in the concessions area of Section 139 and goes for $13, or two bucks less than a ticket to that 1970 Super Bowl.

The Vikings’ concession vendor, Aramark, said it hasn’t tabulated a calorie total, but it’s safe to say it would threaten to gobble up all of those Weight Watchers points.

Aramark has concocted similar tribute menu items for 10 other NFL teams.
