The Gophers football team knew this would be a key recruiting weekend, with a camp at TCF Bank Stadium followed by its annual barbecue, and Saturday it landed two three-star commitments for 2015.

Jonathan Femi-Cole, a running back from Vaughan, Ontario, and Ray Buford, a safety/wide receiver from South Field, Mich., committed while on campus.

Rivals.com ranks the 5-11, 218-pound Femi-Cole as the 47th-best running back in the 2015 class. It ranks the 6-0, 190-pound Buford as the No. 43 athlete (position not determined).

Saints win again

The St. Paul Saints beat the Laredo Lemurs 12-4 on Saturday night at Midway Stadium. They will go for the series sweep Sunday.

The Saints (34-26), who tied a season high with 19 hits, lead the Lemurs (32-26) by one game in the wild-card race and hold the tiebreaker.

Before the game, the Saints placed infielder Joe Bonfe on the disabled list because of an injured hamstring. His roster spot was taken by lefthanded reliever Matt Meyer, who signed on for his third stint with the team. Meyer pitched the ninth inning Saturday.

Nick Van Stratten's 33-game hitting streak ended for Laredo.

Laura Ryan of Elk River placed 10th in the women's 3-meter semifinals to qualify for Sunday's finals at the FINA Diving World Cup in Shanghai. As a senior for the Georgia Bulldogs, Ryan won the 1- and 3-meter titles in March at the NCAA swimming and diving championships in Minneapolis.
