Not even baseball is safe from the reach of “Let It Go” and “Frozen”-mania that has invaded every household with young ears.

Tony Award winner Idina Menzel — the voice behind the “Frozen” movie and hit songs — will sing the national anthem before baseball’s best take the field.

Menzel will also perform Minnesota native Bob Dylan’s “Forever Young” before Tuesday’s game as part of an on-field ceremony honoring 30 “All-Star Teachers,” one representing each team.

Also on the play list for the All-Star Game is a performance of “O, Canada” by the Minnesota Orchestra Brass Quintet and “God Bless America” by country artist Joe Nichols.

Earlier Tuesday, the ticketed All-Star pregame celebration outside Target Field will feature the rock band O.A.R. and Minnesota’s a cappella group Home Free.

For Monday’s Home Run Derby, rapper-singer Aloe Blacc will perform “Wake Me Up” and “Can You Do This.”

On Sunday for the legends and celebrity softball game, Panic! At the Disco will perform.

Saturday’s concert at TCF Bank Stadium featuring Imagine Dragons will get the baseball-and-music party rolling.

Minnesotan Nelson is part of umpiring crew

Cottage Grove native and Bethel University alum Jeff Nelson, a major league umpire for 16 years, will work his second Midsummer Classic next week.

Nelson, who also worked the 2003 All-Star Game, will be at first base.

The rest of Tuesday’s umpiring crew will be Gary Cederstrom (home plate), Bob Davidson (second base), Scott Barry (third base), Todd Tichenor (left field) and Vic Carapazza (right field). Barry, Carapazza and Tichenor will be making their All-Star Game debuts.

Cederstrom is from Bismarck, N.D.

The official scorers for the game will be Stew Thornley, Gregg Wong and the Star Tribune’s La Velle E. Neal III, the president of the Baseball Writers’ Association of America.
