New York: With Twins starter Ricky Nolasco pitching, Brett Gardner walked. Derek Jeter singled to right, moving Gardner to second. Jacoby Ellsbury flied out to center, moving Gardner to third. Mark Teixeira singled to right, scoring Gardner and moving Jeter to second. Brian McCann doubled to right, scoring Jeter. Yankees 2, Twins 0

 

SECOND INNING

New York: Brian Roberts singled to right. Ichiro Suzuki singled to left, moving Roberts to second. Kelly Johnson singled to right, moving Roberts to third and Suzuki to second. Gardner popped out to short. Jeter hit a sacrifice fly to center, scoring Roberts and moving Suzuki to third. Ellsbury homered to right, scoring Suzuki and Johnson. Yankees 6, Twins 0

 

FOURTH INNING

New York: With Twins reliever Anthony Swarzak pitching, Suzuki singled to left. Johnson singled to center, moving Suzuki to second. Gardner flied out to center, moving Suzuki to third and Johnson to second. Jeter singled to right, scoring Suzuki and moving Johnson to third. Ellsbury reached first on a fielder’s choice, scoring Johnson, with Jeter out at second. Teixeira singled to second, moving Ellsbury to third. Ellsbury scored on a balk by Swarzak.

Twins: With Yankees starter Hiroki Kuroda pitching, Josh Willingham walked. Willingham moved to second on a wild pitch. Oswaldo Arcia singled to the pitcher, scoring Willingham, with Arcia out at second trying to advance on a throwing error by Kuroda. Kurt Suzuki doubled to right. Trevor Plouffe doubled to center, scoring Suzuki. Chris Colabello homered to left, scoring Plouffe. Yankees 9, Twins 4

 

SEVENTH INNING

Twins: With Yankees reliever Adam Warren pitching, Brian Dozier singled to third. Eduardo Nunez singled to right, moving Dozier to third, with Nunez moving to second on the throw. Chris Parmelee grounded out to third, scoring Dozier. Yankees 9, Twins 5

 

EIGHTH INNING

Twins: With Yankees reliever Jim Miller pitching, Plouffe homered to left-center.
