Annandale area: The walleye bite picked up on Clearwater, using a leech on a spinner rig or Lindy rig in about 15-25 feet. Cedar and Granite Lakes also are producing some walleye action about 8-15 feet using a jig and minnow or night crawler along weed edges. Bass can be caught on most area lakes using plastic worms or crank baits at 5-15 feet. Northerns are active on Clearwater, Cedar and Pleasant using slip bobbers with sucker minnows along the weed edges.
Chisago City area: Comfort Lake is producing some good walleye action on the sandbars at about 8-12 feet. On Chisago Lake, anglers are catching walleyes near rocky parts of the lake or sandbars at 6-15 feet using jigs and minnows. Walleyes also are hitting on the north end of North Center using jigs and minnows or Lindy rigs. Good northern and bass action can be found on South Center Lake at shallow depths near weedlines.
Cook area: Lake Kabetogama and Elbow Lake have produced the best walleye action at about 10-12 feet using slip bobbers or trolling with leeches. There have been good bass and blue gill action on these lakes as well using crawlers, leeches or wax worms.
Lake Vermilion: Walleye action apparently has been outstanding on the Oak Narrows area and Frazier Bay areas at 6-12 feet using slip bobbers with leeches during the evenings or early mornings. On the west side of the lake, walleyes have been active on Hibbing Point and Norwegian Bay. For bass and bluegill action, anglers can head to Muskego Bay, Wolf Bay and Van Ripper Bay at shallow depths using crawlers or leeches.
Leech Lake: Otter Tail Point, the Hardwoods, First and Second Duck points, Pine Point and Walker Bay continue to be good walleye spots using minnows and jigs or rigs and crawlers at 12-15 feet during the day or 4-10 feet with some wind or low-light conditions. During the evenings, Pine Point, Grand Vu, Cedar Point and Trader's Bay are producing good walleye action at 9-11 feet using crankbaits.
Lake Winnibigoshish: Much of the walleye action is shifting toward the main lake bars, flats or humps such as the Tamarack Bay area due to the mayfly hatch. On the Cutfoot Sioux, anglers are catching walleyes using jigs and minnows or leeches and crawlers at 7-12 feet along weedlines. The best time for crappie action is during the early mornings or late evenings along cabbage weeds.
