Randball: Nolasco's giveback innings are killing Twins

  • Updated: June 16, 2014 - 10:15 PM

Few things in a baseball game are more disheartening than giving back a lead right after getting one. Twins pitcher Ricky Nolasco has been on the wrong end of those innings a lot, it feels like — so much so, I decided to go back, start-by-start, to see if it really is the case or if it just feels that way because of a few poorly timed meltdowns. As it turns out, it’s happened quite often: nine times, to be exact, including one in Sunday’s 4-3 loss to Detroit.

Sometimes it’s circumstance; runs are going to happen. But the Twins simply need their highest-paid pitcher to perform better, particularly in those situations.

Try anything: Former Vikings QB Josh Freeman will work out soon with Jon Gruden to try to resurrect his career, NFL.com’s Gil Brandt reports.

Aaron Football: Packers QB Aaron Rodgers is a fan of Johnny Manziel’s skill and his personality, per a story at ESPN.com.
