Freddie Freeman, Braves: Trails Morneau by fewer than 15,000 votes for the second spot, batting .290 with 9 HRs and 30 RBI.

Paul Goldschmidt, Diamondbacks: NL leader in HRs and RBI last season is batting .307 with 11 HRs and 44 RBI.

Joey Votto, Reds: Selected to the past four NL All-Star teams, but injuries have limited him to a .257 average with 6 HRs and 12 RBI.

Ryan Howard, Phillies: The one-time NL MVP (2006) is batting only .227, but he has 11 HRs and 40 RBI.
