First inning

Twins: Brian Dozier singled to left-center off Kansas City starter Yordano Ventura. Joe Mauer walked, Dozier advanced to second. Trevor Plouffe doubled to center, scoring Dozier and Mauer.

Twins 2, Kansas City 0

FOURTH inning

Twins: Kurt Suzuki drew a one-out walk. Aaron Hicks reached on a fielder’s choice to right, Suzuki was out at second. Hicks advanced to second on Ventura’s throwing error and to third on a wild pitch by Ventura. Eduardo Escobar singled to right, scoring Hicks.

Twins 3, Kansas City 0

Fifth inning

Twins: Plouffe tripled to center. Colabello singled to left-center, scoring Plouffe. Louis Coleman relieved Ventura. Jason Kubel struck out swinging and Colabello was caught stealing at second. Josmil Pinto homered to left-center.

Kansas City: Alcides Escobar doubled to left off Twins starter Phil Hughes. Norichika Aoki flied out to right, Escobar advanced to third. Omar Infante singled to center, scoring Escobar.

Twins 5, Kansas City 1

seventh inning

Twins: Plouffe doubled to center off reliever Justin Marks. Colabello popped out to right. Kubel singled to right, scoring Plouffe. Pinto walked, Kubel advanced to second. Suzuki doubled to left, scoring Kubel and Pinto.

Kansas City: Justin Maxwell singled to right. A. Escobar hit a two-run homer to left.
