While over 600 Minnesotans run the Boston Marathon on Monday, Elinor Scott of St. Louis Park hopes to walk the final mile.

Scott, 51, was about a mile short of completing her first Boston Marathon last year when the runners were stopped because of two explosions at the finish line. She hoped to race again this year but was diagnosed in January with stage IV pancreatic cancer. Marathon organizers made special arrangements for Scott to walk the final mile, which she will begin at 1 p.m.

Though Scott's energy has been sapped by a second course of more aggressive chemotherapy — including a treatment last Tuesday — she hopes to run across the finish line. She will be accompanied in Boston by her mother, Donna, sister Jodi, daughter Martha Sutter and boyfriend Ken Rosen, who will run the marathon.
