Minnesota United FC opened its season with a 2-0 road victory over the San Antonio Scorpions on Saturday night at Toyota Field. Chris Ramirez scored in the 17th minute of his NASL debut and Kevin Venegas off a free kick in the 73 minute.

"Getting three points on the road is always tough, especially in a season opener," United coach Manny Lagos said. "I thought we were very gritty and fought together and I was really proud of the effort the guys put in tonight."

The win is United's third vs their Texan rivals since last year and a big moment in a match-up that has seen its share of on the field confrontations. For Minnesota, taking three points from the away match is a big step up after 2013 began with an uneventful home 0-0 draw vs the same opponents.
