Minnesota United FC opened its season with a 2-0 road victory over the San Antonio Scorpions on Saturday night at Toyota Field. Chris Ramirez scored in the 17th minute of his NASL debut and Kevin Venegas off a free kick in the 73 minute.

"Getting three points on the road is always tough, especially in a season opener," United coach Manny Lagos said. "I thought we were very gritty and fought together and I was really proud of the effort the guys put in tonight."
The win is United's third vs their Texan rivals since last year and a big moment in a match-up that has seen its share of on the field confrontations. For Minnesota, taking three points from the away match is a big step up after 2013 began with an uneventful home 0-0 draw vs the same opponents.

United FC also had a goal disallowed in the 84th minute because one of its players infringed on the goalkeeper.

United plats at Ottawa on Saturday and has its home opener opn April 26 against Edmonton at the National Sports Center in Blaine.
