St. Louis scored two runs in the eighth inning on Wednesday to pull out a 3-1 over the Twins in a spring training game played at Roger Dean Stadium.

The runs came off of Twins righthander Samuel Deduno, who had been sizzling this spring, as he entered the outing with one earned run over 92/3 innings pitched. But he gave up a double and walk to open the eighth and saw both runners score, one on a wild pitch, the other on double by Randal Grichuk.

Matt Adams gave the Cardinals a 1-0 lead in the fifth with his second homer of spring. The Twins tied it in the sixth when Jason Bartlett singled to right as Aaron Hicks took off for second. Hick came all the way around to score as Bartlett got his first hit in 30 plate appearances.

Righthander Kyle Gibson gave up one run over 41/3 innings as he battles for a spot in the rotation.
