Minnesota Scene: Gophers beat Sacramento State in 10 innings

David Bettenburg drove in the go-ahead run with a bloop single and Connor Schaefbauer’s two-run single capped a three-run 10th for the Gophers in a 5-3 baseball victory Sunday at Sacramento State. Schaefbauer also hit an RBI triple.

Righthander Kevin Kray (2-0) got the victory. He gave up one run in the bottom of the 10th but stranded two runners to end the game.

Swarm loses in OT

The Swarm wiped out a four-point deficit in the fourth period but fell to the Toronto Rock 9-8 at Xcel Energy Center. Colin Doyle scored the winner 93 seconds into overtime, capping a hat trick. Logan Schuss had a goal and an assist for the Swarm (2-9).

Tommies women to skate in D-III semifinals

The St. Thomas women’s hockey team will open play in the Division III semifinals at 2:30 p.m. Friday against No. 1 Plattsburgh in Plattsburgh, N.Y. Wisconsin-River Falls and Norwich (Vt.) will play in the second semifinal. The championship will be Saturday. The No. 6-ranked Tommies (20-5-3) have won six in a row.

Mayo Clinic joining Lynx as major sponsor

The Lynx will announce a multiyear partnership Monday with Mayo Clinic, one that will include marquee placement on the team’s jerseys and makes Mayo Clinic the exclusive presenting sponsor for the 2014 season.

This is part of an already announced plan for a new practice facility for the Timberwolves and Lynx that includes a sports medicine center in Mayo Clinic Square, formerly known as Block E in Minneapolis.

This is the first time the Lynx have had an individual jersey sponsor, and it makes Minnesota one of six teams in the league to have one.

• Tyler Walker, Erica Meyer and Sydney Fabian all hit home runs and Sara Moulton earned her 99th career victory for the Gophers softball team in a 4-2 victory over Troy in Conway, S.C.

• The Gophers rowing team lost five races to Virginia in the morning session, then beat West Virginia in four of five races in the afternoon at the Oak Ridge Invite in Virginia. The winning Gophers boats were the first and second varsity eights and first and second varsity fours.

• Two juniors from St. Cloud State placed fourth in events Saturday in the NCAA Division II swimming and diving championships in Geneva, Ohio. Alex Bryson set a school record in the 1,650 freestyle (15:22.68). Tyler Magalis competed in 3-meter diving, scoring 519.0.
