Class 1A story lines

1 Three first-timers

Park Christian, Fond du Lac Ojibwe and Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City are making their inaugural state tournament appearances this season. Park Christian, a private school in Moorhead, won the Section 6 tournament. Fond du Lac Ojibwe, a school in Cloquet with an enrollment of 82, won the Section 7 tournament, and Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City, a public school in Grove City, about 80 miles west of Minneapolis, won the Section 2 title.

2 From all over

Just one Class 1A team comes from the Twin Cities (Maranatha Christian Academy). The rest come from as far north as Red Lake and as far south as Rushford (Rushford-Peterson).

3 New champ assured

With last year's state champion, Southwest Minnesota Christian, out of the tournament, top-seeded Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa (2012 champion), second-seeded Maranatha Christian (2013 runner-up) and third-seeded Rushford-Peterson (2013 third place) are positioned for a title run.
