Amanda Leveille's shutout streak came to an end, at three in a row, on Saturday night, but the Gophers women hockey team's unbeaten streak is still alive at 12.
Minnesota beat St. Cloud State 3-1 at Ridder Arena. It was the Gophers' 18th win in a row over the Huskies.
Rachel Bona led the Gophers (24-1-1, 18-1-1-0 WCHA) with a goal and an assist and Rachel Ramsey added two assists. Leveille had 17 saves.
The Huskies (4-21-3, 3-17-2-1) were outshot 47-18.
The Gophers took an early lead as Kate Schipper and Rachel Ramsey set up Bona's 15th goal of the season at 32 seconds in the opening period. Minnesota had a 17-5 shots advantage in the period but didn't score again.
Minnesota's second goal came from Meghan Lorence — who had two goals in a 3-0 win on Friday — with assists going to Maryanne Menefee and Hannah Brandt, at 6:44 of the second period. It was Lorence's 12th of the season.
The Huskies made it 2-1 when Michelle Burke scored at 12:50 of the middle period. Leveille had not allowed a goal since their Jan. 11 game against Ohio State.
Milica McMillen restored the Gophers' two-goal lead back on a power-play goal at 18:07. Ramsey and Bona assisted on McMillen's eighth goal of the season.
The Gophers killed three St. Cloud State power plays in the first 8½ minutes of the third period to hold on to their 3-1 lead.
Leveille came into the series with shutouts over Minnesota State Mankato in a home-and-home series the previous series and stopped 15 shots on Friday. She only had to work a little harder in the second game.
