U.S. National Junior Team training camp opens on Sunday night at Mariucci Arena and is open to the public.

Head coach Don Lucia and the country's top 29 hockey players under-20 will gather for a six-day camp that will be held in Minneapolis and Sweden.

Four days of practice will be held on the Gophers' home ice. An exhibition is scheduled in Mankato on Tuesday night against Minnesota State at 7:30 p.m. Camp wraps up in Minneapolis on Wednesday morning.

The preliminary roster includes two Gophers standouts, sophomore defenseman Brady Skjei and freshman forward Hudson Fasching. Minnesota State's Zach Stepan was the only other Minnesotan invited to the camp.

The roster will be cut from 29 to 23 on Dec. 23 before the team attempts to defend gold at the International Ice Hockey Federation World Junior Championship in Malmo, Sweden.
