Update: The Travis official to Minnesota has been finalized for the weekend of Oct. 25, a souce said.

Though the possibility of DeLaSalle star forward Reid Travis becoming a Gopher remain a long shot, it appears that the 6-7 athlete is taking Minnesota interest at least seriously enough to take an official visit.

While a Gophers team source said it is not yet set in stone, Travis' father, Nate, told our Star Tribune reporter, Jason Gonzalez, today that his son plans to officially visit the Gophers on the weekend of Oct. 25th.

Travis currently has the Gophers on a short list that also includes Duke, Gonzaga and Stanford, with Duke considered by many to be the strong favorite. Travis has already visited Duke and Gonzaga, and will visit Stanford this weekend. Stanford head coach Johnny Dawkins will be in Minneapolis today to see Travis, Nate told Gonzalez.

The forward, ranked No. 40 nationally in the 2014 class by Rivals.com, is the only of the local 'Big Three' – Travis, Apple Valley's Tyus Jones and Golden Valley's Rashad Vaughn – to consider an official at Minnesota, which each have visited unofficially multiple times.

The elder Travis told Gonzalez that ESPN called last night to ask if Reid would wait until Nov. 15 – two days after the start of the fall signing period – to announce his college decision, which ESPN wants to broadcast nationally.

"He is giving that some thought," Nate Travis said.

Travis told Gonzalez his son wanted to wait until after the Gophers visit to announce. The DeLaSalle senior will also be attending the Gophers' public scrimmage this Friday night at Williams Arena.
