Tyus Jones' mother, Debbie Jones, confirmed what multiple sources are reporting: that the Apple Valley top-5 recruit has canceled his visit to Kentucky that was scheduled for this coming weekend.

The Wildcats recently got a commitment from point guard Tyler Ulis, so the decision does not come as a big surprise.

Duke is far and away considered the favorite to land Jones, who will next be visiting Kansas on October 18. Minnesota is still on the 6-1 floor general's list of 7, which also includes Baylor, Ohio State and Michigan State.

Debbie Jones said her son would not be scheduling any other visits in Kentucky's place.

Other recruiting notes:

  • It appears that PF Bonzie Colson will not be visiting the University of Minnesota. Colson told me today that he has scheduled his fifth official, to Connecticut. He had previously said he was choosing between UConn, Temple and Minnesota for his last visit. Colson had been put on the back burner by Minnesota, which is going hard after PF Josh Martin.
  • Carlos Morris will be visiting the University of Minnesota this weekend, as many outlets have reported and as he confirmed today. The JUCO shooting guard will land in Minneapolis on Friday and stay through Sunday. UAB and Arkansas are also involved with his recruitment.
