Lynx center Janel McCarville missed all but a few moments of Tuesday’s victory in San Antonio after taking an elbow/forearm to the face. After the game she tweeted she had chipped some teeth and was a little woozy after the hit. She is listed as day to day with a head injury. That means she might not play Thursday in Minnesota’s game with Washington at Target Center.
Just 1:26 into the first quarter San Antonio guard Danielle Adams caught McCarville while raising the ball trying to draw contact. McCarville left the game and did not return.
With McCarville on the bench Devereaux Peters and Amber Harris saw more minutes. Peters scored six points with three rebounds and two assists in a season-high 27 minutes. Harris played 15 minutes – her most action 12 games – and scored seven points with four rebounds.
If McCarville is unable to play Thursday, coach Cheryl Reeve would have a few options to replace her in the starting lineup. She could just start Peters or Harris in McCarville’s place. Or she could move Rebekkah Brunson to the center position, then go small with Monica Wright as the fifth starter.
Meanwhile, here are some notes off Tuesday’s game:
--The team’s 10 straight wins matches the second-longest winning streak in franchise history.
--The Lynx have won five straight road games, also matching the second-longest streak in team history.
--The Lynx shot a season-high 57.4 percent, with Lindsay Whalen, Maya Moore, Seimone Augustus and Brunson combining to shoot 33-for-52 (.635). It was Minnesota’s ninth game shooting 50 percent or better; the team did it 13 times last season.
--During the team’s 10-game winning streak the Lynx have averaged 20.8 points per game off turnovers.
--Maya Moore and Lindsay Whalen both had double-doubles.
--Moore matched her season high with 26 points, with 10 rebounds, six assists and three steals.
Have a good rest of your day.
