Making this fast, with a long subway right back to the city ahead, and a day game tomorrow:

-- The Twins outhit the Yankees 8-6 tonight, just the third time they've lost when doing so. They're 25-3 when they outhit the opposition. They were shut out for the eighth time this year and, oddly, 0-13 on Fridays this year.

-- The Twins are 4-12 in new Yankee Stadium.

-- Mariano Rivera pitched a quick and perfect ninth for his 30th save, third this year against the Twins, and 36th all-time against Minnesota.

-- Arcia took a called strike three on a 3-2 pitch for his 11th strikeout in 13 at-bats Friday. The first 10 whiffs were all swinging.

-- Chris Parmelee has zero career major-league sacrifice bunts, and one in his minor-league career, back in Beloit in 2008. But he batted second on Friday, so gamely -- but not successfully -- gave it a try with two runners on in the seventh inning. He bunted foul twice, then swung and missed at a third strike.

-- Joe Mauer went 2-for-3, but walked and struck out during his at-bats with runners in scoring position. The Twins went 0-for-12 with RISP.

-- The game was delayed for 73 minutes by rain, which knocked Scott Diamond out of the game after pitching 3 1/3 scoreless innings. The rest of the game was played in a light rain.
