Phil Miller covered three seasons of Twins baseball, but that was at a different ballpark for a different newspaper. Now Miller returns to the baseball beat after joining the Star Tribune as the Gopher football writer in 2010, and he won't miss the dingy dome for a minute. In addition to the Twins and Gophers, Miller covered the Utah Jazz and the NBA for six years at The Salt Lake Tribune.

FORT MYERS, FLA. -- Kevin Correia allowed five runs over four innings Monday, and the Twins fell to Miami, 6-2, in a game shortened by rain to five innings.

Brian Dozier cracked his first home run of the spring, scoring Aaron Hicks, who had walked, ahead of him, to give the Twins an early 2-0 lead. But Correia had problems with his delivery in the second inning, and the Marlins capitalized by scoring four runs on three hits, two walks and a hit batter. Correia also allowed a solo home run to Chris Valaika in the third inning, and his spring ERA increased to 6.46 after five starts.

Joe Mauer singled twice in his return from the World Baseball Classic, and threw out a Christian Yelich trying to steal in the first inning. Yelich, however, hit a long home run in the fifth inning off reliever Tim Wood to end the scoring. A heavy rain began falling in the bottom of the fifth, and when forecasts showed more on the way, the game was called after five innings.

The Twins, now 10-10-1, have Tuesday off, and resume Grapefruit League play Wednesday night in Hammond Stadium against Tampa Bay.
