Anoka-Hennepin’s quest for a fourth consecutive CI Division adapted floor hockey state championship came to an abrupt end on Friday at Bloomington Jefferson High School.

Dakota United knocked off the three-time defending state champion 8-2 behind six goals from senior Joey Sandey in the quarterfinals.

In the other CI Division quarterfinals, top-seeded North Suburban cruised past Winona 14-3 as junior Tyler Engel scored nine goals, Burnsville/Farmington/Lakeville topped Mounds View/Irondale/Roseville 10-6 and New Prague/Tri-City United/LeSueur-Henderson downed Maple Grove 19-9.

In the PI Division quarterfinals, two-time defending state Robbinsdale/Hopkins/Mound Westonka still has its sights set on another championship. The unbeaten Robins topped Rochester 8-4 as junior forward Tyler Sarff had three goals and three assists. Teammate Mike Madson, a senior winger, also had a hat trick.

Freshman Grayson Nicolay has seven goals and two assists to lead top-seeded Dakota United past Minnetonka/Wayzata 10-1, Brainerd/Pillager upset South Suburban 9-5 as freshman Devin Annable had five goals and two assists and Anoka-Hennepin beat St. Paul Highland Park 12-9 in a high-scoring game.
