NHL: The Wild opens its 48-game season vs. Colorado (8 p.m., Xcel Energy Center, FSN).
College men: The Gophers play North Dakota for the final time in a WCHA regular-season game (5 p.m., Mariucci Arena, FSN).
College women: The Gophers play at Minnesota State Mankato (3 p.m.) with a chance to tie the record for longest unbeaten streak in NCAA women's hockey history.
Preps: Three outdoor games from Pokegama Lake in Grand Rapids (all on FSN), plus No. 3 Breck at No. 1 St. Thomas Academy in Class 1A boys.
Pond: Day 2 of 3 of the U.S. Pond Hockey Championships at Lake Nokomis.
