• APPLE VALLEY 61, EASTVIEW 52: The Eagles have proven they can win without Tyus Jones. With him, however, they go from being a good team to potentially a great one. Jones, generally regarded as the top junior point guard in the country, returned to the lineup Friday after missing four games because of a back injury, content to play a supporting role in the Eagles' victory over crosstown rival Eastview.
Jones scored 11 points and dished out eight assists in his first game back, sitting out the final 5 1/2 minutes of the game with the Eagles comfortably in control. Dustin Fronk scored 24 points and Dennis Austin chipped in with 16 for Apple Valley (7-1). Ben Oberfeld led Eastview with 23 points.

• HOPKINS 85, COOPER 70: Rashad Vaughn's game-high 36 points were not enough to keep the Hawks from falling to the Royals. Perennial powerhouse Hopkins featured a balanced scoring attack, with four players in double digits paced by Jake Wright's 20 points.

• MINNEAPOLIS ROOSEVELT 69, ST. PAUL HARDING 61: Roosevelt piled up 37 points in the first half and played it close to the vest in the second to ride to a victory over Harding. Demetrius Durant Jr. led four Teddies players in double figures with 21 points. Kenneth Reed paced Harding with a game-high 24 points.

• ARMSTRONG 66, CENTENNIAL 58: Konner Goettsche, Jerome Dixon, and Nick O'Hara each reached double-digits as the Falcons used a balanced attack to defeat the Cougars. Centennial also had three players in double figures, with Josh DeWitt leading the way with 11 points.

• ST. PAUL JOHNSON 70, MINNEAPOLIS SOUTH 56: A 41-point second half spurred the Governors to victory over the Tigers, as Quashingm Smith-Pugh led his team with 22 points. Payton Bowdry led South with 16 points, while teammate Kenley Farrow added 12.

• HENRY SIBLEY 76, SIMLEY 57: Adam Heussner's game-high 23 points sparked the Warriors to a 19-point victory over the Spartans. Julius Johnson added 14 and Zach Haas 10 in the victory. Sam Stensgard led Simley with 16 points.

• ST THOMAS ACADEMY 73, MAHTOMEDI 69 (OT): The Cadets featured a balanced scoring attack in the victory, with Nick Griffin (14), Mitch Newberg (13), Nick Waldvogel (13), and Jalen Patterson (11) each in double figures against the Zephyrs. Zach Lindquist scored a game-high 31 points for Mahtomedi.
