DEFENSIVE MVP

D.J. Johnson, Texas Tech

The senior safety made the play of the game, intercepting Philip Nelson in the final minute with the score tied and returning it 39 yards to the Gophers 22-yard line, setting up a winning field goal. It was his eighth career interception.

2 Interceptions for Gophers cornerback Michael Carter, giving him four for the season. He also had five tackles and one pass broken up.

5 Consecutive bowl-game losses for the Gophers, who haven't won a postseason game since beating Alabama in the 2004 Music City Bowl.
