Vick expected to start one last time for Philly

Michael Vick's career in Philadelphia does not yet appear to be finished, and Nick Foles' rookie season has come to an abrupt halt.

The latest twist in the Eagles' quarterback drama came Monday when coach Andy Reid announced that Foles had suffered a hairline fracture in his throwing hand Sunday, ending his season after six starts and five losses.

Vick is expected to take his place Sunday against the New York Giants. Vick, the $100 million quarterback who lost his job after suffering a significant concussion on Nov. 11, has been medically cleared to play. But he was a healthy scratch for Sunday's game vs. Washington as the Eagles' No. 3 quarterback.

With the Eagles evaluating Foles for next season, Vick said he did not think he would play again this year. But now he knows that Sunday's game could be his final one playing for the Eagles and Reid, who signed Vick in 2009.

"That's more of the reason why I think I should go out there and try to finish with a win," Vick said in a telephone interview from Newport News, Va., where he distributed toys to 200 families in his hometown. "You never know what could come out of this game. ... I could go out there and break a record. There's tremendous upside."

• Standout Pittsburgh tight end Heath Miller suffered multiple torn ligaments in his right knee Sunday, and the typical recovery time would extend well into 2013 training camp. He tore anterior cruciate and medial collateral ligaments.

• Chicago agreed to a one-year contract extension with long snapper Patrick Mannelly, who holds the franchise record for games played (230) and seasons (15). The Bears also waived wide receiver Dane Sanzenbacher.

• Oakland quarterback Carson Palmer suffered cracked ribs and a bruised lung after a hard hit by Carolina linebacker Greg Hardy and will not play in the Raiders' final game.

• San Francisco receiver Mario Manningham, the hero of last season's Super Bowl for the Giants, will miss the remainder of the season because of a knee injury, ESPN reported.

• Buffalo placed tight end Scott Chandler on injured reserve a day after he hurt his left knee.
