The Anoka High School girls' basketball coach served a two-day suspension without pay last month after acknowledging he sent a Twitter post that generated a complaint to the district.

KSTP-TV posted a screen shot allegedly taken from James Fassett's Twitter feed that showed his contribution to an Oct. 13 Twitter thread: "Do you need me to assign someone to butter your muffin?" The tweet, adapted from a line in the 2004 movie "Mean Girls," reportedly was directed at a female student who has not been identified. The tweet was deleted before the district began its investigation, and district spokeswoman Mary Olson said neither she nor Employee Services had seen it.

The district began investigating after Anoka Principal Mike Farley received an anonymous complaint, Olson said.

Fassett, also a student learning advocate at the school, was disciplined for violating the district's appropriate-use policy for technology. He served his suspension after a paid administrative leave during a six-day investigation; he returned to school Oct. 25. There will be no further discipline, Olson said.

This is Fassett's third year as head basketball coach.
