NEW YORK CITY MARATHON

When: 8 a.m. Sunday

Where: The 26.2-mile course begins in Staten Island and travels through Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan and the Bronx before finishing in Central Park. Damage caused by Hurricane Sandy has not caused a significant disruption in race plans.

TV: ESPN2. Carrie Tollefson, one of Minnesota's most accomplished runners, will be an analyst.

Purse: $853,000. Winners get $130,000.

Favorites: Olympic bronze medalist Wilson Kipsang of Kenya and 2011 Chicago Marathon champ Moses Mosop head the men's field, which includes Meb Keflezighi, fourth in the Olympic marathon, four-time U.S. Olympian Abdi Abdirahman and Jason Hartmann, winner of the 2009 Twin Cities Marathon. The women's race features Olympic champion Tiki Gelana of Ethiopia and third-place finisher Tatyana Arkhipova of Russia, plus top Americans Julie Culley, Amy Hastings and Janet Bawcom, winner of the past two U.S. 10-mile championships in the Twin Cities.

Top Minnesotans: Andrew Carlson of St. Paul is seeded 20th in the men's field. Michelle Frey of Minneapolis is seeded 26th among the elite women.
