ABOUT SEATTLE

RECORD: 4-4

• Five NFL rookies started at quarterback on opening day but Seattle QB Russell Wilson was the only one drafted in the third round or later.

• RB Marshawn Lynch is second in the NFL behind Adrian Peterson in rushing, with 757 yards on 159 carries. But Seattle has struggled in the passing game (ranked 31st) and is 30th in yards gained.

• Seattle's defense, which has 11 of 12 starters back from last season, is ranked fifth overall, third in points allowed. DE Chris Clemons is tied with several players -- including Jared Allen of the Vikings -- for seventh in the league with seven sacks.

PLAYER TALK

Wide receiver Sidney Rice

Rice, the former Viking, is finally healthy. He leads the Seahawks with 28 catches and 367 receiving yards, and he has three TDs.

• On the emotions of this week: "I looked at the scouting report today and I counted out nine of the starting 11 on defense I played with while I was there. So it's going to be fun."

• On Lynch and Adrian Peterson: "I can say that, throughout my six-year career, I've blocked for two of the best running backs that you can block for in this game."

• Comparing former Vikings coach Brad Childress to Seattle coach Pete Carroll: "Coach Childress was more a straightforward, serious guy about everything and Pete is the opposite. ... He's an energetic guy and he's the same way no matter what is happening."

COACH SPEAK

Pete Carroll

• On playing at CenturyLink Field, where 113 false start penalties have been called since 2005, the most in the NFL (One ahead of Mall of America Field): "Anytime your crowd is so loud it does affect communications. ... Our place might be the loudest place you go to, and for an outdoor stadium, I think it is."

• On receiver Sidney Rice: "He's made it back to full speed, and we're really excited about him."

• On the similarities between the Minnesota and Seattle offenses: "Both have big, powerful running backs and feature those guys. .. It will be an interesting game to see two good running games go head to head."
