Bethel stopped a two-point conversion with 1:46 remaining to hold on for a 21-20 victory over Augsburg at Edor Nelson Field on Saturday.

The Auggies had pulled within one point on a 13-yard touchdown pass from Ayrton Scott -- his third TD pass of the game -- to Adam Carl. But the Royals, ranked No. 7 in the AFCA Division III poll and No. 10 in the d3football.com poll, batted down a pass on the Auggies' two-point conversion attempt.

After stopping Bethel (4-0, 2-0 MIAC) on downs, Augsburg (3-1, 2-1) got the ball back with 44 seconds remaining, but an interception by Bethel's J.D. Mehlhorn secured the victory.

Bethel led 7-0 in the first quarter before Scott threw two TD passes to Tyler Swanson to give the Auggies a 14-7 lead.

The score was tied 14-14 at halftime before Bethel took a 20-14 lead in the third quarter on Erik Peterson's 1-yard TD run -- his third TD of the game.

Gustavus 37, Hamline 0: Jeffrey Dubose rushed for 131 yards and four touchdowns and Muresek Mena rushed for 116 yards and a touchdown to lead the host Gusties (2-2, 1-2) over the Pipers (1-3, 0-3).

St. Olaf 38, St. John's 35: Dan Dobson passed for 389 yards and five touchdowns to help the Oles rally for the victory in Collegeville.

The Johnnies, who twice led by 14 points in the first half, led 35-28 early in the fourth quarter.

But the Oles (4-1, 2-1) got a 53-yard field goal from Lucas Wainman to pull within four with 7:52 remaining, and then Dobson completed a 19-yard TD pass to Stephen Asp with 3:43 remaining to take the lead.

Nick Martin rushed for two touchdowns and threw a TD pass for the Johnnies (2-3, 0-3).

St. Thomas 47, Carleton 24: St. Thomas, ranked No. 3 in the AFCA Division III poll and No. 5 in the d3football.com poll, rushed for 357 yards to grind out the victory in Northfield.

Sean Hamlin rushed for 133 yards and three touchdowns for the Tommies (4-0, 2-0), who earned their 28th consecutive regular-season victory.

Matt O'Connell passed for 179 yards and two TDs and rushed for 95 yards for the Tommies, who had 589 yards in offense.

The Tommies, who led 20-10 at halftime, outscored the Knights 21-0 in the third quarter as Carleton fell to 2-2 and 1-2.
