Notes:

The Gophers won't visit Penn State or Michigan this season; they won't host Purdue or Ohio State. That about balances out. They see two very good teams only once but miss opportunities by playing potentially weaker teams only once. Last year the Gophers were forced to start the Big Ten schedule on the road and struggled. This year, they get to start at home; conversely their last two games are on the road. Toughest stretch: The Wisconsin -Iowa-Ohio State- Indiana stretch of Valentine's Day through Feb. 26 will not be fun, but at least the Gophers get two out of the big three at home. The toughest will probably be the opening stretch, when the Gophers lead off with the Spartans, and then a couple of weeks later have to play at Indiana, against Michigan and at Wisconsin (with Northwestern thrown in), all in a 14-day span.
